1. Who we are

First Stop A/C & Electrical ("First Stop", "we", "us") is an electrical and air conditioning contractor based at 145B Morrin Road, Saint Johns, Auckland 1072.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

2. What we collect

When you send us an enquiry, we collect what you give us in the form: your name, phone number, email address, suburb, the type of work you need, whether you're a homeowner, property manager, business or trade, and whatever you tell us about the job.

We ask for these because we can't quote a job or ring you back without them. You don't have to provide anything — but if you'd rather not fill in a form, just ring us on 022 090 4711.

When you browse the site, our analytics collect standard technical information: the pages you visit, roughly how long you stay, the type of device and browser you're using, and an approximate location based on your IP address. This is aggregated and we don't use it to identify individuals.

We do not collect payment details through this website, and we don't ask for anything sensitive — no dates of birth, no identity documents, no financial information.

3. Why we collect it

• To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote
• To carry out work you've asked us to do, and to contact you about it
• To meet our obligations as registered electrical workers, including issuing compliance certificates
• To understand how the website is used so we can improve it

4. Who sees it

Your information stays with First Stop and the people who need it to do the job.

We use the following third parties, who process information on our behalf:

Google Analytics involves your information being processed outside New Zealand. Google operates under standard contractual protections, but we can't control their systems. You can opt out entirely — see section 7.

We never sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or where it's necessary to protect someone's safety.

5. Marketing

We don't run a marketing email list. If you give us your details for a quote, we use them for that job and to follow it up — not to send you newsletters.

If that changes we'll ask you first, and every message will have a way to unsubscribe.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become jobs: we keep them for up to two years, because people often come back to a quote months later.

Completed jobs: we keep records for at least seven years, which is what our tax and electrical compliance obligations require.

7. Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies — small files stored by your browser.

Necessary cookies keep the site working, remember your preferences and help the enquiry form function. These can't be switched off.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) tell us which pages get read and where people leave. We use this to improve the site.

You can refuse analytics cookies through the banner when you first visit, change your mind at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer, or block cookies in your browser. Blocking analytics cookies won't stop you using any part of the site.

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can:

• Ask what we hold about you. We'll tell you, free, within 20 working days.
• Ask us to correct it if it's wrong.
• Ask us to delete it, subject to records we're legally required to keep.
• Complain if you think we've mishandled your information.

9. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information — secure hosting, restricted access to the systems that hold customer records, and encrypted connections to this website.

No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that could cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the Privacy Act requires.

10. Children

This website isn't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect their information.

11. Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above. Material changes will be flagged on the website.
